A 41-year-old Russian citizen, referred to as AN, has been arrested in Budva on charges of human trafficking.
According to the Police Directorate’s announcement, she is accused of this crime against a seven-year-old child.
“Following a report from a citizen regarding a child begging on the street outside a hotel in Budva, police officers responded to the scene alongside representatives from the Center for Social Work. After conducting several measures and actions, they were able to identify the child and his legal guardian, from whom they later obtained information. Based on suspicions of human trafficking offenses against her own seven-year-old child, AN (41), a Russian citizen residing in Budva, was taken into custody,” the police stated.
It is alleged that she committed the criminal offense by exploiting trust and a relationship of dependency, intending to exploit the child’s labor by coercing him to beg.
Upon the order of the prosecutor at the Higher State Prosecutor’s Office in Podgorica, staff from the Budva Center for Social Work placed the victim and his five-year-old brother in the “Ljubović” Public Institution.
AN has been taken to the Higher State Prosecutor’s Office in Podgorica along with a criminal report for further proceedings.
