Predrag Mijatović, an emblematic figure of Real Madrid and former Yugoslav and Montenegrin footballer, asserts that his team was the superior opponent in the recent Madrid derby.
The contest at “Santiago Bernabeu” concluded in a 1:1 tie last night, with Real maintaining their lead after the 23rd round, holding a one-point advantage over Atletico.
“In this derby, each squad had a distinct half. Atletico dominated the first half, scoring a goal and creating several threatening plays. In the second half, however, Real exhibited total control,” Mijatović commented to “As” and continued:
“During the first half, Real appeared sluggish, lacking cohesion and clarity, but in the second half, we witnessed one of their finest performances this season. This is how they should play – with courage, eagerness, and intensity, applying high pressing and playing without fear,” Mijatović reflected.
The former player and director of Real Madrid expressed disappointment with the result, even though…
“Given their display and performance in the second half, Real truly deserved to win. Nevertheless, a draw is still a positive outcome, keeping the team at the top of La Liga,” Mijatović concluded.
