The Ministry of Social Welfare, Family Care and Demography prioritizes the creation of a modern and sustainable law on social and child protection to ensure more effective and equitable protection for children, families, and other vulnerable social groups, according to Minister Damir Gutić.
Today, Gutić and Minister of Labor, Employment and Social Dialogue Naida Nišić met with representatives from the Employers’ Union to discuss enhancing the social and child protection framework through the establishment of new legislation.
According to the Ministry, the meeting addressed aspects of the upcoming law on social and child protection, specifically focusing on parental leave benefits, the alignment of social policies with labor market needs, strengthening family support, and clarifying the role of employers in this context.
“Gutić emphasized that creating a modern and sustainable law is a priority for the Ministry, aimed at providing more efficient and fair protection for vulnerable groups,” the statement noted.
He also highlighted the importance of maintaining an open dialogue with all key stakeholders, including employers, to develop a system that addresses citizens’ needs and adheres to European standards.
Nišić pointed out that cooperation across government departments is crucial for formulating policies that improve working conditions and enhance social security for employees.
“Employers play a vital role in this process; their involvement in the labor market is essential for establishing a cohesive and effective social protection system,” Nišić stated.
Representatives from the Employers’ Union expressed their readiness to actively engage in the legislative drafting process, emphasizing the need for a balance between rights in social and child protection, labor relations, and economic sustainability.
“The meeting concluded with an agreement to maintain the dialogue regarding the development of new legal measures, respecting the perspectives of all interested parties,” the statement concluded.
