Boško Laketić, the president of the Mojkovac municipal board of the Civic Movement URA and a councilor in the Mojkovac Municipal Assembly, stated that for the current state-level government led by Spajić, Mandić, and Bečić, Mojkovac has become a final test. This statement follows the adoption of the 2025 Budget in the Parliament of Montenegro.
“The 2025 Budget Proposal from the Spajić Government was shameful, with only minimal allocations for projects in the Mojkovac municipality. Local government party representatives attempted to make numerous amendments through parliamentarians to improve the Budget Proposal. However, unfortunately, most of these amendments—which could have greatly enhanced the situation concerning critical development projects for Mojkovac—were ultimately rejected,” he emphasized.
Laketić pointed out that the Capital Budget for 2025 did not allocate funds for the ongoing construction of the “Žarski” ski resort, which aims to connect the “Cmiljača” ski resort with a cable car to this center. Additionally, funds for the construction of the local road Polje – Sinjajevina (Ckara katun), intended to help create the Sinjajevina ring in Mojkovac, were also missing, despite proposals from the GP URA parliamentary group.
Further, he highlighted that following the Spajić Government’s decision to abandon the prison construction in Mojkovac, the Budget did not provide resources for the much-needed rehabilitation and construction of the Mojkovac – Slatina road, which is in a dire state and unfit for the 21st century.
Laketić mentioned the absence of funding for two significant projects aimed at revitalizing Mojkovac’s cultural, historical, and tourism offerings: the construction of a replica of medieval Brskovo and the Memorial Center for the Battle of Mojkovac.
“The disregard shown by state authorities towards Mojkovac is not surprising; citizens witness the continual false assurances from Prime Minister Spajić and his team daily. However, it is perplexing that residents of Mojkovac, holding key governmental positions, such as the President of the Parliament of Montenegro, Andrija Mandić, demonstrate a lack of concern for their hometown. In the end, we can only rely on our own resources and aim to rectify what can be corrected at the local self-government level,” explained Laketić.
He concluded by stating that it is inevitable that the people of Mojkovac will hold the parties of the parliamentary majority at the state level accountable for their inadequate treatment of the city.
