Bar Residents Suffer Daily from Poor Road Infrastructure Management

Roads are essential infrastructure for every community; however, the state of roads in certain local areas of Bar is far from satisfactory, according to the president of the party I Vote Montenegro – I Vote Bar, Radomir Novaković Cakan.
“The condition of many local roads resembles those in regions that have never experienced new asphalt. In Sutomore, Šušanj, and Stari Bar, as well as other neighborhoods, the roads have deteriorated under the burden of construction machinery and trucks, despite only a few years having passed since the last resurfacing. The effects are already noticeable, and residents suffer daily from this negligent management of infrastructure,” stated Novaković in a media release.
He questions why there is a lack of attention to this issue and why illegal construction thrives in the largest suburban areas of Bar, even when these structures cannot be legalized.
“This issue not only jeopardizes the Municipality’s finances but also affects the local road infrastructure for which significant annual funds have been allocated—ranging from seven hundred thousand to nearly a million euros, as outlined in the capital budget for this year,” Novaković emphasized.
The president of the Biram Montenegro – Biram Bar party urged responsible institutions to promptly acknowledge the gravity of the situation and implement tangible measures to maintain and enhance the road infrastructure in our suburban areas.
“The citizens of Bar deserve safety, well-maintained roads, and accountable management of resources, rather than witnessing their money squandered on repairs caused by negligence and delays in addressing issues. It is time for the local government to earnestly commit to preserving the infrastructure that underpins our community’s development. We must act before it is too late,” the statement concluded.
