We excelled in the first half but struggled with individual play in the second half.
The Buducnost Voli basketball team triumphed in another thrilling matchup, as the “blues” managed to beat Ulm in Germany with a score of 85 to 76 in the 82nd round of the Eurocup, thus continuing their quest for playoff qualification.
Buducnost’s performance in the first half was exceptional, beginning in the middle of the first quarter when the “blues” found their rhythm, surging with an 11-0 streak and establishing a 20-12 advantage.
In the second quarter, their lead expanded to a maximum of 17 points (53:36), and they went into halftime ahead by 15 points (56:41). However, a slump in the second half allowed Ulm to turn the tide, entering the final minute with a three-point lead (82:79). Nonetheless, Buducnost showcased solid play on both ends of the court, securing their eighth victory in the Eurocup.
“I believe we played well in the first half, executing our game plan. We shared the ball and played at a fast pace offensively. In the second half, we began to play individually, lacking a cohesive attacking strategy, and we made several defensive mistakes. Still, we earned this victory. I would like to congratulate the players,” stated Budućnost coach Andrej Žakelj after the game.
Rashid Sulajmon was the standout player for the “blues,” scoring 27 points.
“It was an excellent game. We had a 15-point lead at halftime, but relaxed in the second half. We need to improve and maintain our focus. They are a strong team, and we allowed them to make a comeback. I’m pleased we secured the win,” commented Sulajmon.
After tonight’s matches, Buducnost and Wolves are tied with records of 8-8. The Blues will host Juventud in the next round, while the Wolves, who defeated Gran Canaria tonight, will take on Trento.
