The Balkan Region Rattled by a Series of 30 Earthquakes in Just Two Hours
A series of earthquakes rattled Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, and Montenegro in the early hours of the morning.
The initial quake struck at 4:06 AM, registering a magnitude of 5.4 on the Richter scale, with its epicenter located on the border between BiH and Montenegro, specifically between Nikšić and Gacka.
The tremors were also experienced in Serbia.
Srdjan Cekovic from the Seismological Institute of Montenegro informed RTS that the main quake was followed by around 30 aftershocks.
Just eight minutes later, a second earthquake measuring 3.1 on the Richter scale struck the region between Gacka and Nevesinje.
A third quake, also registering 3.1, occurred at 4:30 AM, with its epicenter situated between Bileća and Nikšić.
All three earthquakes were felt in various cities, including Dubrovnik, Trebinje, Podgorica, Herceg Novi, Sarajevo, and Mostar.
Subsequent, weaker tremors followed after the initial series.
