“Olympiakos Dominates in Kotor, Primorac Turns Focus to Eurocup”

The match in Piraeus was filled with suspense, while the Kotor showdown lacked the same intensity…

In the 4th round of the Champions League, Primorje’s water polo team faced defeat at the hands of Olympiakos with a score of 18:9, effectively ending their hopes of advancing in the elite competition just two rounds before the group stage concludes.

This outcome signifies that Vjekoslav Pasković’s squad will shift focus to the Eurocup, the continent’s second-tier tournament, where they will enter in the round of 16.

During their initial encounter against the Greek powerhouse, the Kotor team pulled off a remarkable performance despite being down early, losing only after five minutes. However, achieving something similar this time around at the “Zoran Džimi Gopčević” swimming pool was an ambitious expectation.

Olympiakos proved to be a dominant force and a strong contender in the Champions League, demonstrating its superiority throughout the match in our bay.

The only moment of uncertainty came at the start of the second quarter when Primorje rallied from a three-point deficit (4:1) to bring the score to 4:3, courtesy of goals from Nemanja Vic and Tim Perov. Unfortunately, Savo Ćetković missed the opportunity to equalize, allowing the Greeks to seize control of the game.

In just over five minutes, Janis Fudulis and his teammates found the net six times, effectively wrapping up their victory in Kotor with a score of 10:3.

As the match progressed, the primary question became how much the final score would tilt in favor of Olympiakos, resulting in an 18:9 outcome.

Despite the lopsided defeat, a silver lining emerged from the performance of young Tim Perov, who netted two impressive goals.

For the Greek team, Vico and Dušan Matković both scored twice, while Dimitrios Dimu excelled on the opposite side with five goals, supported by Fudulis and Andro Bušlje, who each contributed three goals.
