The captain of the Montenegrin women’s handball team, Milena Raičević, sustained an injury during last night’s match against Serbia in the opening of the EHF Euro. Fortunately, the injury is not serious, but it will require a two-week recovery period as announced by the Handball Association.
According to the Association, Raičević will miss the upcoming matches against Romania and the Czech Republic, but the medical team is working diligently to ensure her swift recovery.
“Magnetic resonance imaging revealed damage to the medial collateral ligament accompanied by effusion in the knee joint. Consequently, Raičević will definitely miss the next two group stage matches against Romania and the Czech Republic. Our national team’s medical staff is already focused on Raičević’s quick recovery, with hopes that she may be able to assist the ‘lionesses’ in the next four matches awaiting us in Debrecen in case of advancement,” stated the Association.
Montenegro achieved a victory over Serbia last night, finishing the match at 24:18. They are set to face Romania tomorrow in the second round.
