“Maintaining Our Momentum Amid Challenges: A Significant Victory, Especially Considering Other Outcomes”
Each match this season feels like a grand event, showcasing the talents of the Future Voli basketball players.
With numerous victories marked by dramatic and often thrilling finishes, the “blue and white” team once again triumphed in the city by the Danube.
After leading by 17 points in the first half, coach Andrej Žakelj’s squad secured a crucial win against Ulm in the Eurocup, clinching the game in a nail-biting finish (85:82).
The significance of this victory in Germany was amplified by the fact that the Wolves, their chief competitor in the playoff race, also succeeded in the 16th round.
“This victory is very important, particularly when considering the results from this round—those teams vying for playoff positions also notched wins. But this is the Eurocup, and we’re in a challenging group where every game counts,” remarked Rashid Sulejman.
In a tense second half, it was Buducnost’s guard who shone brightly, consistently pushing for points and ultimately scoring 27 to help secure the vital win for his team.
“What can I say about the game in Ulm? I’m pleased with how united the team was. We’ve been maintaining a strong pace lately, even when the going gets tough… We’re sticking together, sticking to our game plan, and earning another victory. Naturally, we’re delighted about that,” Sulejman stated.
Buducnost achieved their 10th win in their last 11 games, along with four ties.
“We were aware it would be a challenging match… I believe we played the first half as planned, with fluid ball movement and effective teamwork, while in the second half, particularly in the third quarter, we struggled to find our rhythm offensively,” commented Andrej Žakelj, head coach of the “blue and whites.”
The Montenegrin champions currently sit in the final playoff spot with an 8-8 record, equal with the Wolves after their win against Gran Canaria.
“There was a bit of tension due to the game’s importance, but ultimately, the victory is what matters. We need to keep our spirits high, as we’re on a solid winning streak that we must build upon. We’re still in the playoff hunt and must maintain our focus, energy, and the positive atmosphere we’ve created,” the Slovenian coach added.
The path ahead until the conclusion of the Eurocup group stage hinges on matches against Juventud (6-10) at “Morača” and likely a decisive showdown with the Wolves in Vilnius.
