To help reduce the prices of essential food items, Social Democrats (SD) MPs plan to propose amendments to the value added tax (VAT) law, which would decrease the VAT rate on fruits, vegetables, and fish from 21 percent to 7 percent, announced SD MP and EU representative Boris Mugoša today.

This information was posted on the social media platform X.

“In neighboring Croatia, a reduced rate of 5% is applied to all essential products for human consumption, whereas in our country, fruits, vegetables, and fish are not eligible for this reduced tax rate,” Mugoša stated.
