Flawless Performance by the Leading Trio: A Remarkable Achievement for the Academy
The twelfth round of the EPCG Women’s Volleyball Super League witnessed commanding wins by the top three teams, a significant upset in the Boka Kotorska derby, and a nail-biting match in Bijelo Polje, as reported by Odbojka.me.
The most thrilling encounter, the only one to go the full five sets, saw Akademija pull off a remarkable comeback after trailing two sets to none. This week’s achievement took place during the boccia derby against Gimnazijalac, with the Tivat team triumphing 3:2 (22:25, 13:25, 25:16, 25:20, 15:9), showcasing their strong form as they head into 2025.
Despite being without one of their star players, the injured Majda Čakar, Milan Marković’s squad still amassed 100 points in the Kotor gymnasium—five more than their local opponents—tying their records at 4-8. Akademija’s victory was driven by four players scoring in double figures: Maša Milošević with 16 points, Lina Milivojević with 14, Teodora Stanković with 13, and Dunja Ćupić finishing the game with 11 points.
For Gimnazijalac, their key duo combined for nearly 50 points, with Matea Kovačec scoring 25 and Tajane De Souza adding 22, but it was not enough to end their winless streak in 2025.
In just over 50 minutes of play at SC “Igalo,” Herceg Novi dominated Morača with a straight-set victory of 3:0 (25:15, 25:11, 25:14). While the match totaled only 115 points, it featured three players reaching double digits—Ralitsa Vasileva led with 20, Ana Marija Galić contributed 14, and young talent Gordana Madžgalj added 10. Morača’s efforts came from Anastasija Bogojević with six points and Anastasija Kiprivica with five. The Novi team maintained their momentum, winning their second match of the week without dropping a set and holding the first place with a one-point lead over Luka Bar.
The “sirens” were unstoppable as well; they opened the twelfth round of the EPCG Super League with a swift 3:0 victory (25:15, 25:18, 25:14) against the previously hot Albatros. The service receivers of Vladimir Milačić’s team showcased an impressive performance: captain Dušanka Petrović scored 14 points, Teodora Čavić added 10, and setter Dijana Vuković finished with nine. Albatros, experiencing their first defeat after four consecutive wins, saw Viktorija Položevec and Amina Musić contributing seven and six points, respectively.
Buducnost continued their excellent form, bolstered by their previous victory over the reigning champions. Luka Bogojević’s team achieved a third consecutive win against the Galeb squad, finishing 3:0 (25:18, 25:11, 25:16). Leading the charge for the blue and whites were Lana Rakočević with 12 points, while Milena Ćetković and Klara Đukić both netted 11 each. On the other side, Natalija Vlaović recorded nine points, just above Sara Striković’s eight.
The round’s only northern Montenegro match featured a stunning upset as Jedinstvo defeated the Budva team 3:1 (25:19, 23:25, 25:16, 26:24) in a clash that almost pushed the guests to a tiebreak. The Bjelopolje and Budva teams engaged in an intense contest, ending with Mladen Miladinović’s squad celebrating a significant triumph that tied them with Morača in the eighth position. After more than an hour and a half of tough play and close to 200 points, the Bjelopolje team clinched victory in the crucial moments of the fourth set. Ivana Šebek led her team with 20 points, while Andrijana Merdović added 18, surpassing guest player Vanja Matunović’s performance.
