Viktor Đukanović Signs with Club that Boosted Krstović’s Career, Capitalizing on Playing Time and Form
Dunajska Streda in Slovakia served as a launching pad for Nikola Krstović’s career, and it now presents a chance for another Montenegrin player, Viktor Đukanović, to rediscover the form he displayed during his time at Hammarby.
The young Montenegrin talent has departed Standard Liege and joined Dunajska Streda on a one-year loan from Hammarby. The Slovak club is granted the option to permanently acquire him from the Swedish side for five million euros.
“The loan at Standard Liege has been canceled, allowing him to join Dunajska Streda, which includes an option for a five million euro purchase. Djukanović looks forward to gaining playing time at Dunajska Streda as he seeks to reclaim his form from last summer,” stated his agent Igor Gluščević.
Djukanović was on loan from Hammarby to Standard last summer; however, he struggled to get playing time in Belgium, featuring only four times in the domestic league.
“I find myself in a wonderful environment; everything here is at the top level. In November, I visited the club’s academy, and my national team mate, Nikola Krstović, shared many positive insights about the club. This motivated my decision to accept their offer. I’m eager to demonstrate my capabilities. I prefer to let my performances on the field do the talking rather than focusing on myself,” Đukanović shared on the club’s website.
The forward has been with Hammarby since January 2023, having moved from Budućnost. He has played 48 matches for the Swedish club, delivering impressive performances and netting 15 goals.
“I aspire to maintain this scoring streak and bring joy to Dunajska Streda’s fans. My strengths lie in my technique, speed, ball control, and one-on-one situations. I aim to assist my teammates using these skills. As it is stated on the club wall, the club comes first, the team second, and the player third. Therefore, prioritizing team success is essential, and I will work hard to contribute positively,” emphasized the Montenegrin international.
He has been included in all selections for the Montenegrin national football team, having played four matches for the senior squad. He made his debut for the “brave falcons” in June 2022 during a Nations League match against Romania in Bucharest.
