Emotional Tribute: Children from Cetinje Honor Victims in Heartfelt Scene

Nine-year-old Vukan and his older brother Jovan Vuletić, who is five years his senior, are the youngest victims of the tragic mass shooting carried out by Aco Martinović (45) on January 1st in Cetinje.

The entire region is grieving the loss of 12 innocent lives, with days of mourning observed in both Montenegro and Serbia. The heartfelt testimonies from those who knew the victims are incredibly moving, particularly in Cetinje, where children honored their fallen friends yesterday.

Specifically, the children of Cetinje paid tribute to Malim and Vukan with a torchlight ceremony. It’s worth noting that their uncle, Mirko Vuletić, was one of the victims of this horrific act.

The motives behind this dreadful crime remain unclear. It is currently understood that on the fateful day of January 1, Martinović entered the Velestevo Cafe with one other individual. Eyewitness accounts indicate that he was among friends at the same cafe moments before the tragedy unfolded.

During a television news appearance, Lazar Šćepanović, the director of the Police Directorate of Montenegro, revealed that security cameras captured the initial moments in the cafe where the massacre began.

“There was a verbal altercation between Martinović and the individual who was killed in the bar. The establishment was lively, with music, and the patrons, including the victims, were enjoying themselves. The video footage shows Aco Martinović in a normal, relaxed atmosphere, which makes the subsequent events even more shocking,” stated Šćepanović.

At some point, Aco Martinović left the cafe, only to return and unleash violence. By the time police responded to the first call, Martinović had already taken the lives of four people and injured three others.

After leaving the cafe, Martinović went to the home of the deceased and exclaimed, “Kuma killed your brother, I will kill you too,” before shooting him. He also attacked the man’s wife, who likely tried to intervene. Following this, he moved to the house of Martinović’s parents, where he killed both his father and mother.

Ultimately, he made his way to a friend’s house, where he shot the friend’s wife upon her opening the door.
