Archimandrite Stefan of Morača Monastery Passes Away – News Update
Archimandrit Stefan of Sabrat Morača Monastery passed away on Sunday at the age of 82.
– Archimandrit Stefan (Kalik) was born on November 11, 1943, in Noskalika, Drnis. He began his monastic journey in 1959 at the Monastery of Kosiserevo. A year later, he moved to the Ostrog Monastery, where he was ordained as a Jerođakon in 1963. The ordination was conducted by the Metropolitan of Montenegrin-Primorje, Danilo (Dajković), at Ostrog on January 1965, and he became a Jeromonah on January 20 of the same year. In November 1965, with the blessing of Metropolitan Danilo, he took on the role of an officer at the Morača Monastery, serving until 1972. In 1972, Father Stefan returned to the Ostrog Monastery, performing the duties of an elder from 1979 until 1983. From 1983 to 2005, Father Stefan served as an officer at the beer monastery. Since 2005, he was a part of the Brotherhood at the Morača Monastery. In May 2006, he was elevated to the rank of Igumman by Metropolitan Amfilohije, and on January 8, 2014, he was officially proclaimed Archimandrita at the Morača Monastery.
The body of Archimandrit Stefan has been transferred to the Ostrog Monastery, where the Liturgy and Opelo will be conducted by the Metropolitan of Montenegrin-Primorje, Joaniki.
Father Stefan will be laid to rest in the monastic cemetery.
