The encounters featuring Čenga Kucora, Petra Vamoš, and Katrin Klujber on one side, pitted against the formidable Montenegrin defense of Tatjana Brnović and Đurđina Jauković on the other, promise to be a celebration of handball.
These remarks were made by the European Handball Federation regarding tonight’s match between Montenegro and Hungary, marking the 1st round of the main round, set to kick off in Debrecen at 20:30.
It appears that the defense that “overwhelmed” opponents in the earlier stages is already instilling fear in the host team.
“Montenegro plays with intense defense. I won’t say anything negative about them, but their tactics are quite aggressive as everyone has noticed. We need to play intelligently, move quickly, and pass the ball effectively to avoid clashes,” stated Viktorija Djeri-Lukač, right wing of Hungary, in an interview with “National sport.”
She highlighted one particular Montenegrin player.
“I must mention Đurđina Jauković, who has made a remarkable comeback after two knee surgeries. We will have to pay close attention to her,” emphasized Đeri-Lukač.
Hungary’s coach Vladimir Golovin also addressed the defensive capabilities of the “lionesses.”
“Montenegro possesses a robust and aggressive defense, so it is crucial for us to minimize mistakes and avoid heavy duels in our offense,” Golovin suggested.
Regarding their defensive strategy, the Odessa-born coach stated:
“In our defensive play, we need to concentrate on stealing as many balls as possible and transitioning to score easily,” added Golovin.
