In a challenging match tonight, Podgorica’s Bemaks basketball team faced a tough defeat at home against Helios from Domžale, with a final score of 83:59 in the second round of the Top Eight phase of the ABA Second League.

This marks the second consecutive loss for the Podgorica team in the Top Eight phase, following their narrow defeat to Zlatibor from Čajetina, where they lost 72:70 in front of their supporters.

The team from Podgorica, missing key player Balša Živanović and featuring a younger lineup, managed to hold their ground until the midway point of the third quarter.

However, the game shifted dramatically as the physically superior and more seasoned Helios squad executed an impressive 32:6 run, sealing the victory.

Jure Špan was instrumental for Helios, scoring 21 points, while Blaž Mahkovič added 19 points to the tally.

For Podgorica, Xavier Rhodes contributed 14 points and Anthony Smith followed closely with 13 points.

The next challenge for Podgorica will be against Bosnia in Sarajevo on March 5th.
