Spajić and Al-Sabah Commit to Strengthening Collaboration

The governments of Montenegro and Kuwait are dedicated to revitalizing and enhancing their bilateral relations while forging new and effective pathways for cooperation in tourism, energy, infrastructure, and agriculture. This was the central message conveyed during the meeting between Montenegrin Prime Minister Milojko Spajić and Kuwaiti Prime Minister Ahmed Abdullah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah.

I firmly believe that there is immense potential for collaboration between our two friendly nations. Montenegro aims to further develop its tourism sector, particularly health tourism, establish itself as a regional leader in renewable energy, and expand its agricultural industry with the aim of exporting products to the Kuwaiti market. These are important areas for potential collaboration, stated Prime Minister Spajić.

Prime Minister Al-Sabah communicated Kuwait’s strong interest in renewing diplomatic and economic ties, as well as investing in mutually beneficial projects, which will be explored in more detail in the near future.

The Kuwaiti delegation expressed their eagerness to identify specific investment opportunities in Montenegro, emphasizing the necessity for closer collaboration between the two governments and their respective business sectors.

Prime Minister Spajić also pointed out Montenegro’s interest in reinstating the direct air route between Kuwait City and Tivat.

This route, operated by Kuwaiti airline Jazeera Airways, was very successful during its operational phase from June to October 2023. We believe it would perform equally well in 2025, especially since Kuwaiti citizens do not need visas to enter Montenegro. Our aim is to extend these connections beyond the summer tourism season to ensure year-round air traffic, Spajić remarked.

Prime Minister Al-Sabah stressed the necessity for increased promotion of Montenegro in Kuwait, offering his support to enhance its visibility among Kuwaiti travelers and investors.

As Spajić mentioned, Montenegro is eager to attract investments from Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries, given its potential as an investment and tourism hub for the Western Balkans.

The two prime ministers also acknowledged the significance of settling Montenegro’s long-standing financial obligations to Kuwait, which date back to the period of the Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia (SFRY).

Both leaders expressed confidence that the traditionally robust and friendly relations between Montenegro and Kuwait will continue to flourish, developing through tangible projects and initiatives across various sectors.
