Montenegro Secures Spot on Forbes Travel Guide’s 2025 Star Winners List.
The world’s most opulent hotels are frequently situated in the least expected locations. From the historic streets of Azerbaijan to the rugged terrains of Western Montana, the Forbes Travel Guide (FTG) Annual Star Awards celebrate outstanding hospitality around the globe. This year’s winners represent the most varied selection in the 67-year history of FTG, with establishments in a record 90 countries including Brunei, Finland, Montenegro, and Romania, all debuting on the list.
Each Forbes Travel Guide Star is backed by countless favorites from local communities, ranging from chefs who source ingredients from family farms passed down through generations to spa therapists creating personalized aromatherapy blends from local flora. Covering everything from iconic luxury capitals to emerging destinations, the 2,187 award recipients for 2025 is a testament to the idea that true luxury is not quantified merely by the quantity of rooms or square footage but rather by authentic moments of connection.
FTG’s evaluations are unbiased, independent, and data-driven. Inspectors operate incognito, experiencing hotels just like regular guests—they book stays, embark on cruises, enjoy spa services, and dine at esteemed restaurants. They assess numerous stringent criteria, focusing primarily on exceptional service, which constitutes 70% of the overall rating for a facility. The quality and condition of the amenities account for the remaining 30%. Additionally, inspectors analyze the wellness offerings provided by the hotel, the impact of the setting, and whether every facet contributes to an unforgettable experience.
Establishments are categorized with the ratings: “Soon to be Rated,” “Recommended,” and either four or five stars for recommendations.
