The Bar police have lodged a criminal complaint against FS and ES over allegations of repeatedly stealing telecommunications cables and connectors, which they allegedly sold at a secondary raw materials waste site in Podgorica, earning approximately 1,700 euros, according to a statement from the Police Directorate released today.
The release notes that the Bar police have initiated legal proceedings against the suspects for “aggravated theft in complicity.”
According to the Police Directorate, FS and ES are currently in custody for prior criminal acts.
It is suspected that FS and ES committed these offenses by driving a vehicle to the Tanki rt location in Bar, specifically to the railway tracks, on four separate occasions starting January 10. They used physical force to dislodge the buried cables and metal connectors, subsequently employing tools to sever the telecommunications cable in multiple spots, which they then loaded into their vehicle before fleeing the scene. The two are believed to have sold the stolen items at a secondary raw materials waste dump in Podgorica for around 1,700 euros,” the statement explains.
The Police Directorate also indicated that some of the stolen materials have been recovered and will be returned to an authorized representative of the Railway Infrastructure of Montenegro (ŽICG) following the necessary expert evaluations.
Reportedly, the total length of the stolen telecommunications cable is 1,640 meters, along with two metal STA connectors and two “Rayhem” connectors. The theft reportedly inflicted material damages amounting to 20,900 euros on ŽICG, as per their submitted reports.
