Montenegro: “Respect Your Life, Return Weapons” Campaign Yields 41 Firearms Collected in Just Two Days

In the initiative “Respect Your Life, Return Weapons“, citizens of Montenegro have voluntarily surrendered 41 firearms and over 1,000 rounds of ammunition within just two days, as announced by the Police Administration of Montenegro.

This action has been ongoing for several years; however, in the past two days alone, 41 firearms, 1,046 rounds of ammunition, three hand grenades, explosive materials, and firearm components have been returned across multiple cities in Montenegro.

Within the jurisdiction of the Regional Security Center “Center”, citizens have turned in 24 firearms, 758 rounds of ammunition, three hand grenades, and explosives to the police.

According to the report from the Department of Security in Podgorica, 12 pistols, six rifles, and 565 assorted rounds of ammunition were submitted, while the police in Danilovgrad received one firearm, three rifles, three hand grenades, 157 rounds of ammunition, and two detonating devices.

The Security Department of Herceg Novi reported the surrender of two firearms and 45 rounds of ammunition, while another security department reported two various caliber firearms and two gun frames.

Additionally, according to the National Park Pljevlja, safety officers conducted a search of an apartment and other areas used by an individual whose firearm acquisition has not been registered with the Ministry of the Interior.

A misdemeanor complaint has been filed against the individual known as JB under the Weapons Law.

“The Police Directorate urges all fellow citizens to enhance societal security by voluntarily submitting any firearms, ammunition, and explosive materials they possess, without fear of legal, criminal, or misdemeanor repercussions, regardless of whether these items are held legally or illegally,” the statement indicated.
