Vučić Before UN Vote: Montenegro’s “Underhanded Role” in Amendments

Tanjug
In New York, Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić criticized Montenegro’s “dirty role” regarding its amendments to the Srebrenica resolution ahead of the UN General Assembly, suggesting it has created a divide in the region.
– The amendments from Montenegro have played a very dubious role, and it’s not just the opponents to blame as this was executed under someone else’s orders, “Vučić told reporters from the United States, noting that there will be surprising unfavorable news concerning other nations.
He expressed hope that many who vote for the resolution on Thursday will do so in the interest of Serbia and will clarify that they do not endorse collective guilt for the Serbian people.
– We have received information indicating there will be disappointing news regarding actions from certain states, which we did not anticipate, aimed at backstabbing us. We expected pressure and shifts in attitudes. Some will stand firm for the truth and withstand the pressure until the end. Others will remain silent and eventually succumb to the influence of the powerful – stated the President of Serbia.
On Monday, Vučić will continue his discussions ahead of Thursday, May 23, concerning the UN General Assembly’s proposal for a resolution on the International Day of Reflection and Remembrance for the Genocide in Srebrenica.
The draft resolution for the International Day of Reflection and Remembrance for the Genocide in Srebrenica was added to the agenda of the 82nd Plenary Session of the UN General Assembly, addressing the culture of peace. This resolution condemns the denial of genocide and the glorification of war criminals; it was proposed by Germany and Rwanda, with over 30 countries, including the quint countries, as sponsors.
