Growth of the number of employees in Montenegro 1.4 percent in the third quarter

Montenegro Sees 1.4% Increase in Employee Numbers in Q3

In the third quarter of this year, Montenegro reported an active population of 323,200 individuals, with 287,600, or 89 percent, being employed according to MONSTAT.

Out of the total active population, 35,600 individuals, or 11 percent, are reported as unemployed.

The number of employees has increased by 1.4 percent compared to the previous quarter, but there has been a decrease of 2.2 percent when compared to the same quarter last year.

When looking at the unemployed figures, there has been a reduction of 1.9 percent compared to the previous quarter and a decline of 9.4 percent in relation to the same period last year.

Of the total active population, 172,000, equating to 53.2 percent, are men, while 151,200, or 46.8 percent, are women.

The survey indicates that from the total number of employees, 153,300 or 53.3 percent are men, and 134,300 or 46.7 percent are women. Among the unemployed, there are 18.6 thousand men, making up 52.4 percent, and 17 thousand women, which constitutes 47.6 percent.

“The majority of employees are in the age group of 25 to 49, totaling 196,800. Additionally, this same age group also has the largest number of unemployed individuals, totaling 23,200,” stated Monstat.

The distribution of employees by sector shows that a significant portion, 76.8 percent, are engaged in service activities, while non-agricultural activities, including industry, account for 4.3 percent, and the agricultural, forestry, and fishing sectors makes up the remaining.

The survey encompassed 1,750 households.
