Ongoing Tender Process for the Long-Term Concession of Montenegro’s Airport
The Tender Commission for Concession opportunities at Podgorica and Tivat Airports has invited submissions from interested parties with the support of the International Financial Corporation (IFC) for a long-term concession to operate these airports.
“This marks the second phase of the tender process and is a clear sign of the ongoing economic development in Montenegro that commenced in 2019,” stated the Tender Commission, as reported by Mina, with Nik Gjeloshaj serving as its president.
They noted that it took five years to complete the pre-qualification procedure, and now three international bidders have qualified for this second phase.
“Given the significance of the airports to Montenegro’s tourism and economic growth, it is vital to make strategic decisions regarding the long-term development of the airports, whether through a public-private partnership if suitable bids are received or through state-led development,” the statement concluded.
