Primorac Secures First Champions League Victory
Following their triumph in the Cup of Montenegro, the water polo team from Primorje achieved their inaugural victory in the Champions League.
Although the Kotor team previously lost the chance to compete for a place in the quarter-finals, they managed to take revenge against Sabadell for their earlier defeat in the “Zoran-Džimi Gopčević” pool.
Excitement unfolded in Catalonia, yet Vjekoslav Pasković’s squad withstood the pressure from the home team and celebrated a 16:15 win.
The Montenegrin champions excelled in the second quarter, scoring seven goals to lead 11:6 at halftime and 12:7 in the third quarter.
Afterward, a surge from the hosts saw them net four consecutive goals to level the score at 13:13, but Primorac delivered the decisive strikes with contributions from Nika Šušilašvili, Balša Vučković, and Dušan Matković before the final whistle.
Šušilašvili stood out as Primorac’s top player, netting four goals, while Đorđije Stanojević added three and Matković contributed two…
On the opposing side, Montenegrin representative Konstantin Averka found the net three times for Sabadell.
Primorac will continue their season in the Eurocup.
