“Derby North: Rudar, Mediteran, and Tempo Clinch Perfect 100%”
In the 10th round of the EPCG First Women’s Volleyball League, four matches concluded in straight sets, while something more intriguing occurred in Pljevlja and Bar.
Ibar kicked off the second segment of the EPCG First League with a 3:0 triumph over Grebaj (25:19, 25:18, 25:13). Ibar solidified their win, which they also achieved away against the Gusinje team, marking their second victory, while Grebaj will continue to seek their first points of the season. Adelita Ljaljić and Lina Šabović were standout performers for the winning team, each contributing 10 points, while Semra Nikočević netted six points for the visitors.
In the northern group derby, Rudar battled back against Gorštak, emerging victorious with a score of 3:1 (24:26, 25:22, 25:23, 25:22). This win elevated Ana Marković’s team to the top position in the standings. Although both teams have the same points and a similar record of wins and losses, Rudar leads Gorštak due to winning one more set. The exceptional captain Zana Čakar propelled Rudar to victory with 25 points, followed by the impressive Lamija Avdović with 16 and Katarina Bajčeta with 11 points. For Gorštak, Milena Medenica showcased her talent with 20 points, and Jelena Mirović contributed 10.
Mediteran maintained its winning momentum in the “South” group, displaying impressive form as they defeated Ulcinj in this round with set scores of 25:10, 25:6, 25:8. Captain Anastasija Kovačević led the charge with 17 points, while Manja Nikolić managed to score two for Ulcinj, who are still in search of their first victory.
Additionally, in this group, the Bar team – Mrkojevići – claimed a victory against Lovćen from Cetinje after four sets with a score of 3:1 (25:15, 27:25, 7:25, 25:21). Mrkojević’s volleyball squad celebrated its third win alongside three losses, while Lovćen suffered its sixth defeat. Ema Perazić stood out for the home team with 18 points, supported by Alena Kadić with 12 and Anja Đurđević with 11 points. For Lovćen, Jelena Jovanović reached double digits with 12 points. Mornar enjoyed a free round.
In the “Center” group, both matches concluded in straight sets. Tempo secured a home win against Top Volley with a score of 3:0 (25:13, 25:18, 25:22). With this victory, Tempo retained its unbeaten status at the top of the standings, while the Podgorica team sits in third place with a half-point score. Kalina Rudović was the top scorer for the winning side with 13 points, followed by Bojana Lalatović with 11. Nikolina Popović managed to score 10 for the opposing team.
In the final match of the round, Net achieved an away victory against Libero from Cetinje, finishing 3:0 (25:19, 25:11, 25:14). Mia Pođanin delivered a stellar performance for Net with 13 points, whereas Sofija Popović recorded five for Libero, who are yet to secure any points. The players from Volley Star had a free round this week.
