“Victory Secures Third Place in the Group: ‘Lionesses’ Triumph Over Poland”

Montenegro triumphed over Poland with a score of 30:28, marking their first victory in the main stage, keeping them in contention for third place and a journey to Vienna.

The Lionesses are set to play their final match in the main round on Tuesday at 20:30 against Sweden.

The match began with the Polish team taking an early lead, as Rosijak’s goal put them ahead by three points (7:4). Although Poland was in control at that moment, Montenegro stayed competitive thanks to Gina Jauković. An equalizer from Itana Grbić via a seven-meter penalty allowed our team to take the lead 11:10, the first time since the game’s outset when the score was 2:1.

The halftime score was tied at 14:14, and soon after, our team established a two-goal lead for the first time (16:14, scored by Grbić and followed by Brnović).

But Poland responded with a 4:0 run, regaining the lead at 18:16. Montenegro quickly countered with their own 4-0 streak, pulling ahead 20:18, and after Ivone Pavićević scored, they enjoyed a four-goal cushion for the first time at 24:20.

Though Poland fought back, closing the gap to two points (26:24), Tanja Ivanovic scored to halt their momentum.

Jauković was notably effective, netting eight goals, while Grbić and Brnović contributed five each, and Pletikosić added four.

Kobilinska led the Polish side with six goals to her name.
