The Montenegrin handball team has been unable to secure a place in the quarterfinals of the European Championship.
Hungary confirmed the outcome by defeating Poland convincingly with a score of 31:21 at the “Fenix Arena” in Debrecen.
Earlier today, Montenegro faced a loss against France with a score of 31:23, which meant they needed to win both their upcoming matches against Poland and Sweden while hoping that Hungary would earn maximum points in their other matchups.
Hungary’s victory in their first match eliminated any uncertainty regarding Montenegro’s progression.
Under the guidance of Suzana Lazović, Montenegro will now aim to secure third place in the group, which would allow them to qualify for the finals in Vienna and compete for fifth place at the Euro.
Montenegro’s next match is against Poland on Sunday at 15:30, followed by a game against Sweden on Tuesday at 20:30.
