The investigating judge at the Kotor Basic Court, Špiro Pavićević, has ordered a detention period of up to 30 days for a 49-year-old professor from Tivat, P. Š., who is suspected of sexually harassing a female student at an elementary school.

This information was confirmed to “Vijesta” by the court’s spokesperson, Judge Veljko Bulatović.

Judge Pavićević conducted a hearing with the defendant in the presence of his chosen defense attorney, approved the prosecutor’s request, and subsequently ordered his detention. The accused has been transferred to Supka Remand Prison.

The Tivat police apprehended P.Š. (49), an elementary school teacher, yesterday on suspicions of sexually harassing a female student.

According to an announcement from the Police Directorate, it is alleged that P.Š. made inappropriate comments towards the underage victim during class.

“The police seized his mobile phone and, following orders from the prosecutor at the Kotor Basic State Prosecutor’s Office, took him into custody. It is important to note that this individual was previously charged by the police on January 27 for a violation of the Law on Public Order and Peace, specifically for physically assaulting a student by pulling their ears during a class at the mentioned elementary school,” stated the police.

A statement from the Basic State Prosecutor’s Office (ODT) in Kotor indicated that at the request of the state prosecutor, P.Š. (49) from Tivat is in custody based on reasonable suspicion of committing the criminal offense of sexual harassment against a minor student.

“Detention was mandated due to indications that the suspect may reoffend,” the statement added.

The Kotor ODT encourages all minors and their parents to report any suspicions of criminal offenses committed against children.

“Additionally, we urge all relevant institutions to collaborate and share information promptly so that collectively, within our respective jurisdictions, we can ensure a safe environment for all minors and safeguard their rights,” concluded the statement.
