Mornar Pursues Jedinstvo and Buducnost for Second Place Position
The teams in the Montenegrin Super League are concluding the league season at an accelerated pace. Round 13 of the EPCG Super League in the men’s competition is on the schedule, where Buducnost could secure second place in the standings alongside home advantage in the playoffs, Mornar might surpass Jedinstvo, and Budva could maintain their winning momentum.
The penultimate round will commence in Bar, where Mornar will take on Sutjeska tonight (Friday) at 20:30 PM.
Barani won their initial match against the newcomers to the EPCG Super League with a score of 3:0. A second victory would elevate them to third place, allowing them to directly challenge Jedinstvo for that position in the final round. Sutjeska finds themselves in a stable position, likely finishing in fifth place and set for a play-in for the semi-finals of the playoffs; they will discover their opponents, either Mornar or Jedinstvo, next week.
Buducnost volley has established a significant lead in the race for second place, stemming from their victories over Barani and Bjelopolje. They will have the chance to clinch it in a match against Lovćen, who have yet to win a single set throughout the championship. The Podgorica team will host the Cetinje squad in the Medical School hall on Saturday, February 8th, at 14:00, as clear favorites.
Budva remains unassailable at the top of the standings, prompting coach Bošković to increasingly offer chances to young players. They are anticipated to face another youthful Super League team, Galeb, in a match set for Monday at 21:00 in Bar.
The Budva team is demonstrating dominance with 33 sets won and is striving for a flawless conclusion to the league season, while Galeb faces a significant challenge ahead of their season finale against Lovćen next week.
