Hungary effectively utilized their home advantage but faced the reigning world champions – France claimed victory in the showdown between the only unbeaten teams in Group 1, silencing Debrecen and heading to Vienna with a flawless record.
Sebastien Gardiu’s squad triumphed 30:27, secured first place, and sent the Hungarians to face formidable Norway in the semi-finals. They now await their opponent for the final, either Denmark or the Netherlands.
The Scandinavian team and the Dutch will face off tomorrow at 18:00 in a decisive match to determine who advances to the top four.
Chloe Valentini and Poleta Fopa each contributed five goals to France’s success, while Tamara Horacek and Estel Nze Minko added four goals each.
On the opposing side, Katrin Klujber stood out with nine goals, surpassing her teammates.
The final match in Debrecen for this year’s EHF Euro will feature Montenegro against Sweden at 20:30. A point or victory will secure our team a place in Vienna for the fifth-place match.
