Just six days after securing his sixth coaching trophy, Nebojša Jovović achieved another remarkable feat, leading Al Kuwait to a dominant 6-0 victory over Al Nasser in the 13th round of the Kuwaiti championship.
It’s an intense title race, as the Montenegrin coach’s team has encountered only one loss thus far, which was against Želj Petrović’s Al Qadisija. They have triumphed in all of their other 12 matches but still haven’t established a significant lead at the summit.
Interestingly, second-placed Al Arabi boasts the same record (11 wins, one loss, and one game in hand).
Al Kuwait and Al Arabi stand as the primary contenders for the championship, while Petrovic’s Al Qadisiyya trails 10 points behind after clinching a hard-fought derby victory against third-placed Al Salmiya, winning 2-1 with a goal scored deep into injury time.
Last Sunday, Jovović claimed the Kuwaiti Super Cup by defeating Željko Petrović’s Al Qadisija in a nail-biting final that was decided by a penalty shootout.
This victory marks Jovović’s sixth trophy during his coaching tenure in the Middle East, where he previously achieved a triple crown with Faisaliyah in Jordan, became the champion with Short in Iraq, and lifted the Tunisian Cup with Sfaxien.
