The informal student group “Kamo Śutra” plans to block the roundabout at Capital Plaza in Podgorica today from 17:26 p.m. to protest unmet demands following the tragic events in Cetinje.

The demonstration will commence with “23 minutes of silence” to honor the 23 victims of the two tragedies in Cetinje.

Earlier this week, students and citizens obstructed 13. Jula Street in front of the Faculty of Law on Monday, pledging to block a road each day as a form of protest.

The informal group “Kamo Śutra” expressed gratitude to everyone who participated in the gathering on Monday.

“We refuse to live in a nation where the demand for accountability is overlooked! That’s why we are gathering today to amplify our voices! Everyone, join us in the streets,” the student group stated in a Facebook update.

During Monday’s blockade, they reiterated that protests would persist until their demands are addressed.

The students are calling for the dismissal of Minister of Interior Danilo Šaranović and Deputy Prime Minister for Security and Defense Aleksa Bečić, as well as for more prompt action from relevant institutions concerning weapons possession.

Additionally, their demands include reinstating civic education as a mandatory subject in all primary and secondary schools and enhancing the institutional approach to mental health care.

In response to the “Kamo Śutra?” group’s demands, Prime Minister Milojko Spajić stated that all government members are subject to replacement following an assessment of their performance.

Following this, student representatives clarified that their demand shifted from requesting the resignations of Šaranović and Bečić to seeking their dismissals.

On January 1, Cetinje resident Aco Martinović tragically killed 12 people, including two children, and injured four, one of whom passed away on January 9 at the Clinical Center.
