The Police Directorate (UP) has enhanced security measures for former Montenegro President Milo Đukanović, according to reports from Podgorica’s Standard portal citing an anonymous police source.
The source indicated that following the revelation of possible assassination plans, authorities have deployed additional resources to ensure the safety of the former president, including his residence, travel routes, personal security, and counter-surveillance measures.
Recently, it was reported that Đukanović alerted the relevant authorities about receiving threats related to an assassination plot. He claimed to have obtained this information from certain international intelligence officials and subsequently informed state entities.
Previously, he had raised concerns regarding threats against him dating back to 2016, although the Senior Court in Podgorica later acquitted all individuals implicated in the alleged state interference during that year’s election.
