A Renault Laguna, belonging to Rudnik Uglja, was engulfed in flames yesterday in the Pljevlja village of Rađevići.
This incident was confirmed by the Coal Mine authorities.
“We were notified that a passenger vehicle belonging to RUP was damaged last night. The management has tasked the relevant departments, with assistance from the appropriate services in the company, to gather all details concerning this incident, after which we will determine the next steps,” stated Rudnik Uglja briefly to Vijesti.
According to unofficial sources, the vehicle that was destroyed in the fire was utilized by the newly appointed Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Coal Mine, Dragoljub Krezović, who is a political ally and friend of his predecessor, Milan Lekić, who remains employed with the company as a mining engineer.
It remains unclear whether the fire was due to an electrical malfunction in the vehicle or if it spread from a separate fire in the adjacent meadow, as social media footage indicates that a significant portion of the meadow was also ablaze.
The meadow where the vehicle caught fire is reportedly owned by Milan Lekić, according to unofficial reports from Vijesti.
Vijesti was unable to reach Lekić yesterday, as he was unreachable at the contact number he had been using prior.
On October 11 of last year, Lekić was involved in an accident with his official Infiniti vehicle on Volođina Street in Pljevlja.
He received a fine of 750 euros from the Bijelo Polje Court for causing an accident in Pljevlja while under the influence of alcohol. The incident resulted in considerable damage to Rudnik’s vehicle. Following the accident, Lekić tendered his resignation as president of the Board of Directors of Rudnik Uglja.
