Deputy Prime Minister Ivanović Engages with Think Tank Representatives in Brussels
Filip Ivanović, the Deputy Prime Minister for Foreign and European Affairs, participated in discussions with key think tank representatives in Brussels, focusing on EU integration during an event hosted by the Europeum Institute for European Policy.
The conversation revolved around Montenegro’s advancements in the EU accession journey, crucial reforms, and the nation’s goal to expedite its integration by finalizing accession negotiations by the end of 2026 and achieving full membership by 2028.
Deputy Prime Minister Ivanović reiterated Montenegro’s steadfast dedication to reforms in critical areas such as the rule of law, economic governance, institutional resilience, and others, all bolstered by the country’s alignment with the EU acquis across 33 negotiation chapters. He emphasized the essential role of political stability, adherence to the roadmap established with the European Commission, and ongoing legislative activities, which have positioned the past year as the most successful in Montenegro’s EU accession negotiations to date.
Participants shared insights on the dynamics of EU enlargement and the importance of maintaining continuous cooperation with European partners to prevent any setbacks that could jeopardize the trust and credibility established thus far.
This meeting was part of a larger agenda during the Deputy Prime Minister’s visit to Brussels, which included talks with senior EU officials, Members of the European Parliament, and representatives from EU member states.
