Students from the universities of Belgrade and Novi Sad gathered to honor the victims of the canopy collapse that occurred on November 1st last year, observing a fifteen-minute moment of silence outside the Novi Sad Railway Station.

Belgrade students arrived in Novi Sad this evening after participating in a two-day protest march.

As they made their way to the train station, they received a warm welcome from thousands of citizens who applauded their efforts.

Leading the procession were student guards who carried wreaths inscribed with the names of the 15 individuals who tragically lost their lives in the railway station canopy collapse.

Upon arriving at the Duga Bridge, the students from Belgrade were met by their peers from the University of Novi Sad. Together, they proceeded through the central streets toward the Railway Station to pay their respects to the victims.

Following this tribute, Belgrade students will stay overnight at the faculties that are currently blockaded, while their hosts from Novi Sad have arranged accommodations in their dormitories.

On February 1st, the Belgrade students plan to join their colleagues in blockading three bridges over the Danube River.

This action will commemorate the three-month anniversary of the tragic accident that claimed 15 lives due to the concrete canopy collapse at the Railway Station.

A group of students who began their journey from Belgrade on bicycles had already arrived in Novi Sad, greeted at the train station by fellow cyclists from Novi Sad.

Students who walked to Novi Sad spent the night outdoors in Inđija, located approximately 40 kilometers from Belgrade, before continuing their trek in the morning.

The march route was secured by both student guards and police for safety.

The convoy included medical support in the form of an ambulance, along with a water tanker.

The students took breaks in various towns along their way, where local residents offered them refreshments and food.

The incident in Novi Sad sparked widespread protests across Serbia, mobilizing tens of thousands to take to the streets.

Over the past two months, student-led protests have resulted in the blockade of numerous state universities, with the central demand being for accountability from authorities for the tragic accident in Novi Sad.
