Dejan Savić, the head coach of Montenegro’s national water polo team, revealed the roster for the upcoming World Cup qualification tournament set for January 6-12 in Romania.

Leading 18 players in Otopeni, Savić includes: Petar Tešanović, Darko Đurović, Miroslav Perković, Sav Ćetković, Jovan Vujović, Đur Radović, Danilo Radović, Vlad Popadić, Filip Gardašević, Nikola Moskov, Bogdan Đurđić, Dušan Matković, Vasilij Radović, Strahinja Gojković, Balša Vučković, Aljoša Mačić, Marko Mršić, and Srđan Janović.

Notably, the roster features debutants Srđan Janović, son of the legendary Nikola Janović from Primorje, and Strahinja Gojković, a standout from Jadran.

Excluded from the extended list are Vladan Spaić, Lazar Andrić, Dušan Banićević, Matija Sladović, Uroš Vučurović, Martin Gardašević, Andrija Korać, Danilo Stupar, and Đorđije Stanojević.

On January 5, the team will head to Romania, where they’ll compete in Group B against Greece and Serbia.

The first match is scheduled against the Greeks on January 6 at 3:30 PM, followed by a showdown with Serbia on January 8.

Group A includes France, Spain, and Hungary, while Group C features Romania, Japan, and the United States, and Group D consists of Croatia and Georgia, after Italy’s suspension and Australia’s withdrawal from the event.

The group winners will advance directly to the quarterfinals, with second and third-placed teams competing for spots in the top eight.

The top six teams from this tournament, alongside two from the B division, will qualify for the Superfinal of the World Cup, slated for April 2025 in Montenegro.

If Montenegro successfully hosts the tournament, it will secure participation in the Superfinal, regardless of the outcome in Romania.

The top three teams from the Superfinal will earn spots at the World Championship in July in Singapore.
