Montenegrin national karate team wants to continue winning medals in Poland

Montenegrin National Karate Team Aims to Secure More Medals in Poland

At the European Championships for Cadets, Juniors, and Young Seniors in Poland, Montenegrin karate will be proudly represented by 39 athletes—28 in fighting and 11 in kata, as announced by the Karate Federation.

This championship will take place in Bielsko-Biała from February 7-9 and will feature a remarkable turnout of 1,171 karatekas from 49 nations.

In the kata category, cadets Uroš Stevović (Grbalj) and Neda Beljkaš (Potoci) will compete, along with juniors Benjamin Aljošević (Bar) and Katarina Vlahović (Iskra) and younger seniors Nikola Milić (Bar) and Arijana Kočan (Bar).

For team events, cadet-junior squads consisting of Benjamin Aljošević, Aleksa Janjić, Ajsel Geršvic, and Aleksa Barjaktarović, as well as Viktorija Raičević, Mia Ramović, and Katarina Vlahović are set to compete.

In the cadet division, the following athletes will take the mat: Šćepan Ivanović (Bijela, under 52), Demir Pivić (Bijela, under 57), Nemanja Gecaj (Šotokan team, under 63), Andrija Kosović (Bar, over 70), Kenan Hodžić (Bar, over 70), Vasilija Bijelović (Fokus, under 47), Katarina Đukić (Gorštak, under 54), Mina Boričić (Omladinac, under 61), and Ivona Vlahović (Gorštak, over 61).

Junior competitors include Balša Danilović (Gorštak, under 55), Jusuf Saljiu (Omladinac, under 61), Vuk Vučinić (Iskra, under 68), Anes Arifaj (Iskra, under 76), Mihailo Gojaković (Iskra, +76), Jelena Miladinović (Vukovi, under 48), Lana Vukčević (Omladinac, under 53), Nađa Boričić (Omladinac, under 59), Una Raković (Omladinac, under 66), and Jovana Damjanović (Omladinac, over 66), all vying for medals.

The younger seniors will look to maintain their tradition of excellence—competing will be Helena Backović (Omladinac, under 55), Anja Nikolić (Fokus, under 61), Jovana Stojanović (Bratstvo, under 68), Mariam Zahrane (Bar, +68), Balša Vojinović (Iskra, under 60), Ognjen Bjelajac (Omladinac, under 67), Lazar Jovović (Bar, under 75), Dušan Bijelić (Bar, under 84), and Lazar Potpara (Fokus, over 84).

The athletes will be guided by coaches Biserka Radulović and Milena Milačić in kata, with Žarko Raković, Dejan Ivanović, and Almir Cecunjanin overseeing combat training. The coaching team also includes assistant coach Marko Vašalić.

The competition will kick off on Friday, with kata performances across all age categories and cadet bouts scheduled for that day on the tatami.

On Saturday, audiences can expect kata team performances along with junior and younger senior contests, culminating in the final matches on Sunday.
