The Tivat Soup Kitchen, operating under the Caritas organization of the Diocese of Kotor, has served over 20,000 hot meals to those in need within ten months. The ingredients and funds have come from generous donors, while the food has been prepared by dedicated Caritas volunteers.
Director Don Zeljko Paskovic announced that the initiative to open a soup kitchen in Tivat has demonstrated its invaluable significance through its impact over the past months.
“We express our gratitude to the creator and proponent of this endeavor, a Montenegrin family from Berlin, along with all socially responsible businesses, institutions, and individuals who support our mission,” Pasković stated, noting that the President of the Municipality of Tivat, Željko Komnenović, has allocated “substantial financial resources” from the city budget to support the Caritas Soup Kitchen initiative.
Pasković mentioned that the kitchen, located in part of the old Fire Station in Pakovo, which the Municipality of Tivat has generously provided for free use, is now serving 70 hot meals each day to those in need.
“We are grateful to the Mayor of Tivat, Željko Komnenović, the members of the Tivat Municipal Assembly, and other stakeholders who have contributed to this compassionate initiative aimed at improving the living conditions of our most vulnerable citizens. A special thanks goes out to the representatives and staff of the Tivat Social Service, whose unwavering assistance helps us enhance the circumstances for socially vulnerable individuals in Tivat,” Pasković declared.
Additionally, he emphasized that Caritas of the Diocese of Kotor has executed multiple other significant humanitarian projects over the past months and has exciting plans for the future. He encouraged all socially responsible businesses and individuals to continue their support through financial donations or direct contributions of food to the Tivat Soup Kitchen.
“Every contribution plays a vital role in improving our operations and assisting those most in need. Together, we can achieve much,” he concluded.
