The Government has acknowledged the significance of IT skills for Montenegro’s advancement and plans to roll out support programs in the near future. These initiatives aim to provide incentives for implementing educational programs in this critical area, as announced by the Ministry of Education, Science and Innovation.

A presentation showcasing newly adopted initiatives aimed at developing IT skills took place at the Science and Technology Park. The event was titled “IT Skills for the Future – Promotion of Programs and Opportunities.”

Jasna Jovanović, Director of the Directorate for Lifelong Learning, opened the event by discussing the Ministry’s efforts to enhance conditions for adult education and improve the quality of educational programs provided by adult education organizers.

In this context, the Ministry has set aside a budget for the first time specifically for this sector.

Furthermore, with the goal of creating an educational framework that facilitates quicker and more efficient workforce employment in response to modern market challenges, the Ministry has initiated the development of a program focused on IT skills to address demands highlighted in the Chamber of Commerce (PKCG) analysis.

During the event, Nada Rakočević, Secretary of the ICT Board at PKCG, presented the findings of the PKCG’s analysis regarding the scarcity of IT jobs and the challenges companies face due to a shortage of qualified personnel.

According to her, the analysis indicates that software engineers are currently the most sought-after professionals, as confirmed by 66.7 percent of survey respondents.

In addition to software engineers, mobile application developers and specialists in artificial intelligence and machine learning are also highly sought after in the market.

She highlighted that one major barrier to employment is the lack of practical experience among candidates, which complicates the search for an appropriate workforce.

Valentina Radulović, Executive Director of the Science and Technology Park, introduced four programs aimed at developing IT skills that have recently been endorsed by the National Council for Education.

After the program presentation, attendees had the opportunity to inquire about these initiatives, the anticipated state support, and other planned activities in the field of adult education for the upcoming period.
