Documents Reveal That the Leading State is Accountable for the Novi Sad Tragedy
Civil engineer Danijel Dašić has indicated that the released documentation illustrates the reconstruction of the Novi Sad Railway Station as a textbook case of complex project management executed by inept, negligent, and arrogant figures. He demands that high-ranking state officials be held criminally responsible for this situation.
“The incompetency appears in the contracting parties who seem to possess little to no relevant knowledge or experience for the tasks at hand. The irresponsibility lies with the designers and supervising authorities, who either failed to recognize or chose to overlook the unprofessional conduct of the contractors. Lastly, there is an air of arrogance among the executive authorities, particularly the highest-ranking officials, whose decisions resulted in work occurring without essential permits, incomplete documentation, and inadequate oversight,” Dašić remarked in an interview with the Nova newspaper.
He believes that the president, the two prime ministers, and three construction ministers must face accountability for the tragic incident that led to the deaths of 15 individuals following the collapse of a canopy at the Novi Sad railway station.
“This list includes individuals who should bear criminal responsibility for their oversights under the current Law on Planning and Construction of Facilities, as well as potential infractions related to anti-corruption efforts—though the latter is an entirely separate inquiry that is just now in its early stages,” Dašić emphasized.
