The Volleyball Association Selects the Best of 2024.
Matija Ćinćur from Budva has been named the best volleyball player, while Melisa Cenović from Herceg Novi earned the title of the best volleyball player in Montenegro during the Volleyball Association’s traditional selection.
The Volleyball Association made its selections for the best and most promising volleyball players, as well as the top coaches in the domestic championship for 2024, through votes from volleyball clubs, the Board of Directors, and the coaching committee.
Ćinćur secured the election with six votes, achieving a double crown while donning the Budva jersey and excelling in European matches as well.
A member of the senior national team, Ćinćur delivered impressive performances during the qualification rounds for the European Championship.
Other contenders included Budva player Balša Radunović (4 votes) and Stefan Radević, a former player for Budućnost and currently with Sailors (2 votes).
Đorđe Jovović took home the title of the best volleyball player abroad for the second consecutive year, accumulating 11 votes.
He played last season with Triglav in Slovenia, finishing the league as its top scorer and server.
This season, he plays for Zagreb’s Mladost, showcasing exceptional performances across all three competitions: the domestic championship, MEVZA league, and CEV cup.
Jovović is a regular member of Montenegro’s national team and serves as the primary corrector for the senior national team.
Proofreader Bojan Strugar also contended, receiving one vote.
Luka Lojić of Budućnost Volley was recognized as the most promising volleyball player for 2024, totaling seven votes.
Lojić has made significant contributions to the Budućnost team, participating in both the junior and senior categories.
In the 2023/2024 season, he was a key player in winning the cadet championship for Podgorica, also being named the best player of the championship. He secured third place in the junior championship as well.
As part of the cadet national team, he brought home a silver medal from the Balkan Championship in Tirana.
Budva volleyball players Vuk Stanojević (3 votes) and Vasilije Milenković (2 votes) were also in the running.
Miljan Bošković, the Budva coach, was honored as the best coach for the domestic championship for 2024, receiving nine votes for the second time.
Under his leadership, the Budva team claimed the double crown in the Montenegrin championship and achieved notable success in Europe, advancing through the second round of qualifications for the Champions League.
Bošković also works as the head coach for the pioneering national team, with whom he has achieved significant results at the Belgrade Trophy.
In the coaches’ competition, former Jedinstvo coach Darko Prebiračević garnered three votes.
Melisa Cenović, a volleyball player from Herceg Novi, was awarded the title of best volleyball player in the domestic championship for 2024, receiving 13 votes.
Cenović won the double crown with her team in the previous season and is a member of Montenegro’s senior national team, where she has excelled in the CEV Silver League and in European Championship qualifiers.
Other competitors included Kristina Božović, who played for Luka Bar last season and is now with Budućnost (2 votes), and Viktoria Đukić, also from Budućnost Volley (2 votes).
Mina Dragović, a player from Lugož, Romania, was named the best volleyball player abroad once again this year, receiving 23 votes.
Last season, she helped Jedinstvo win the Serbian championship, Serbian Cup, and Super Cup, significantly contributing to the team’s success.
Dragović is also a regular on the national team, performing well in both CEV Silver League matches and Euro Championship qualifiers.
Saška Đurović of Sporting Lisbon in Portugal (2 votes) and Katarina Budrak from Bordeaux, France, were also nominated.
Lana Rakočević of Budućnost Volley was recognized as Montenegro’s most promising volleyball player, earning 14 votes.
Succeeding with the Budućnost team, she won the cadet championship of Montenegro and finished second in the junior championship.
Rakočević is part of the senior national team of Montenegro, participating in the CEV Silver League and in qualifiers for the European Championship.
Her former teammate Darja Popović, now playing for Omladinc in Serbia, received six votes, and Staša Mitrović from Budva garnered five votes.
Časlav Đurović of Budva was named the best coach in the domestic women’s volleyball championship for 2024, receiving eight votes.
Under his guidance, the Budva women’s team achieved a historic appearance in the EPCG Superliga after successfully overcoming Rudar in the playoffs.
Other coaches in contention included Luka Bar’s Vladimir Milačić (7 votes), Gimnazialca’s Milan Franović (4 votes), Morača’s Marko Blagojević (3 votes), and Budućnost’s Luka Bogojević (3 votes).
The date and venue for awarding the best and promising players will be announced later.
