The management of Juventus Football Club has expressed its support for coach Thiago Mota despite unsatisfactory results, but has outlined minimum objectives for his continued tenure, according to Italian media reports today.
Juventus supporters are beginning to lose faith due to the team’s underwhelming performance since the year began, yet, for the moment, there is no immediate threat of the coach’s dismissal, as reported by Gazeta dello Sport.
The team has managed only one victory in seven matches across all competitions since the start of the year, with disappointing losses against Napoli in the league and Benfica in the Champions League.
Gazeta has indicated that the club’s leadership still maintains confidence in Mota, who signed a three-year contract last summer.
The publication further noted that management recognizes Mota’s need for additional time to develop a squad comprising many young and inexperienced players, but has established minimum criteria that he must meet this season.
Juventus aims to progress to at least the round of 16 in this year’s Champions League. Depending on the outcome of today’s draw, the Turin club is set to face either Milan or PSV in the play-offs.
Mota has also been tasked with ensuring that the team qualifies for next year’s top European competition.
