The European Alliance, which includes the Social Democrats (SD), the Social Democratic Party (SDP), and the Liberal Party (LP), announced today the establishment of a Coordination Committee in Podgorica, stating, “we will swiftly dismantle the new city government formed through blackmail.”

“During a joint meeting of the Capital City Committee comprising the Social Democrats, the Social Democratic Party, and the Liberal Party, the initiative to form the European Alliance Coordination Committee at the Podgorica level was introduced, alongside the definition of common objectives and activities within the Alliance. Furthermore, the meeting reflected on the impressions from the recent Podgorica elections, where the European Alliance, backed by non-partisan figures, achieved a remarkable outcome,” the statement revealed.

The European Union highlighted that “there is significant growth potential for the European Union in the Capital City. The votes obtained in the local elections in Podgorica were transparent and fair, demonstrating that an emancipated and dignified approach can win the support of citizens who share the same values.”

“The dialogue centered on the political climate in Podgorica and the latest developments regarding the formation of the city government. It was underscored that the current government in Podgorica was established through dubious compromises and coercion, and as such, it is unlikely to endure. The European Alliance in Podgorica, represented by three councilors, will continue to highlight the failures of the city government and the anomalies resulting from the unprincipled concessions made by the constituents of the government, who have previously displayed a lack of concern for the Capital City, prioritizing personal and narrow party interests instead. We will swiftly dismantle such a government, and thus we anticipate elections occurring sooner than initially planned,” remarked the European Alliance in their statement.

The organization concluded that one of the meeting’s resolutions was to unstintingly champion the interests of citizens across all areas of Podgorica to enhance the overall quality of life for every resident.

“The session, attended by members from all three components of the Alliance, laid the groundwork for effective cooperative efforts and discussed future actions and the execution of shared goals. It was led by Boris Mugoša (SD), Budimir Mugoša (SDP), and Danijela Popović (LP). The leaders of the European Alliance, Damir Šehović, Ivan Vujović, and Vatroslav Belan, along with MP Branislav Nenezić from the Parliament of Montenegro, also addressed the participants,” the European Alliance stated.
