McGregor Convicted of Rape, Ordered to Pay €250,000 in Damages
Conor McGregor, a prominent figure in mixed martial arts (MMA), has been found guilty of raping a woman in 2018, with the High Court in Dublin ordering him to pay 250 euros in damages.
The 36-year-old Irish fighter faced allegations of “brutally raping and beating” Nikita Hand (35) inside a hotel room in Dublin in December 2018.
During the proceedings, he asserted that the sexual encounter was consensual.
Evidence presented at the trial revealed that Hand, the plaintiff, had visible bruises on her legs along with neck pain.
She also accused another individual, James Lawrence, of sexually assaulting her in the same hotel; however, this case was not successful.
McGregor is widely recognized as one of the biggest stars in MMA, having secured championships in both featherweight and lightweight divisions. His last appearance in the Octagon was in July 2021, and a planned comeback last year did not occur.
In 2020, Forbes magazine ranked McGregor as the highest-paid athlete globally, reporting earnings of 170 million euros.
He was present in the court alongside his family and fiancée, Dee Devlin.
