For the fifth consecutive day, the “Čistoća” work unit of the Budva Municipal Company has been striking, resulting in heaps of garbage obstructing the container stations, rendering them invisible.
Workers’ representative Špejtin Keljmendi informed “Vijesti” that they remain on strike, insisting on their demand for the payment of their December and January salaries, stating, “People have nothing to survive on.”
Yesterday, municipal inspection and police mandated that the city must be cleaned, yet the municipal workers are resolute in their stance that their demands must be met.
This morning, the situation on the streets of Budva has become even more dire, with garbage piles in the busiest areas of the city resembling scenes from dystopian films.
The discord between two factions within the company mirrors the challenges faced by the city over the past two years.
Currently, more than 150 tons of garbage are littering the streets, raising concerns about how the city will ever be cleaned up.
The Budva Health Center has stated to “Vijesti” that they are monitoring the epidemiological conditions closely.
