The Agricultural Cluster of Montenegro has endorsed an initiative to boycott stores and encourages citizens to prioritize purchasing domestic products. This approach not only supports local producers but also contributes to the sustainable development of Montenegro.
On January 27, Alternative Montenegro urged the public to refrain from shopping at supermarkets and stores in Montenegro on Friday, January 31.
“This initiative aims to raise awareness about increasing prices and the necessity for enhanced support for local producers. We want to highlight that the pricing in retail chains doesn’t stem from domestic products. In fact, food imports into Montenegro are 16 times greater than exports, reinforcing the need to bolster and promote the market presence of local products and the food industry,” stated a press release from Boško Miličić, the president of the Agricultural Cluster of Montenegro.

Miličić emphasized that by choosing domestic products, citizens are directly aiding in the strengthening of the Montenegrin economy.
“Every purchase of a Montenegrin product translates into support for local farmers and producers, helping to preserve jobs and promote further growth in our economy. Beyond economic advantages, local products are usually fresher, of superior quality, and tailored to the preferences of our consumers. Our farmers implement traditional production methods, ensuring authenticity and high quality in their offerings. Let’s commit to buying domestic – for a brighter future for us all,” Miličić remarked.
