Dejan Savić claimed his inaugural victory as head coach of the “Sharks” in the World League qualifiers, where Serbia was narrowly defeated in Otopeni – 16:15.

Montenegro secured its spot in the round of 16, finishing second, with their next opponent being France tomorrow at 5:14 PM. Greece triumphed in their group, winning both matches, but the “Sharks” displayed remarkable water polo skills for 6 minutes today, showcasing strong defense and achieving a 6:2 lead before Serbia managed to tie the game.

“Our desire to win was evident, yet we faced fluctuations. We performed well momentarily, but then it felt like we relaxed too much, as if heading to the beach. We can and must always improve, and mental preparation needs to be prioritized. The new rules present significant challenges for the players, but they enhance the experience for the audience with more goals,” expressed Dejan Savić following the initial victory.

Đuro Radović, who scored three goals in the victory against the “dolphins,” was named MVP of the match.

“This is a significant win, and I commend my team. Winning always feels great. I also extend my congratulations on the fair play demonstrated by both teams’ players. Defeating Serbia in any lineup is no easy feat, and we must stay focused. I’m not satisfied with our performance in the third quarter; we let them get too close. France is next, and we need to prepare to rectify our mistakes. The new regulations require us to react more quickly and maintain our concentration, as any lapse cost us valuable points,” said Balša Vučković and Đuro Radović, who earned the MVP title along with a $1,500 reward.
