Dejan Savić marked his first win as the coach of the Montenegrin water polo team against the squad he dominated for nearly ten years. However, during the match against Serbia (16:15), there were moments that justifiably infuriated him.
The “Sharks” were ahead 14:6, and it seemed like the only question left was the final score. Suddenly, Serbia came back to 14:9, prompting the trophy-winning coach to call a time-out.
This moment became quite memorable…
“Do you all think the game is finished? Are we here for fun? What were we doing for the last three minutes?” Savić sharply questioned his players.
“If you don’t lift my spirits and if you don’t listen to me, then you’ll be entering from the second line into the first again,” Savić expressed his frustration.
He made an effort to rally all his teammates.
“Guys, you have to keep playing. What’s going on, madness, the beach – are you in your right mind? Let’s go!”
Ultimately, Montenegro managed to secure the victory in the World Cup’s second round, setting up a quarter-final clash against France.
